A Family Portrait For July

Oh well this is a crap iPhone job to be honest. I just got a passerby to take a quick photo, the littlest is asleep and the older one isn’t looking at the camera. I considered going out to take an alternative but it depicts such a lovely day that i wanted to use it anyway.

We are so lucky to live where we live but sometimes we whinge about the house prices, tiny garden and the bloody seagulls waking us up at 4am (even when i am asleep i dream of conducting a mass seagull massacre with machine guns); still when we can draw ourselves out of our own misery we remember that life is good, very good at that. We also remember how good it is to spend a bit of time being tourists again…

A Family Portrait For June

Things lately have been hectic but lovely with lots of trips and visits in June. With the World Cup wanderer now returned we had a day out at a national trust place (Nymans) on Wednesday. It was our first full day as a family of four for quite a while and we were blessed with more wonderful weather.

A Family Portrait For May

I like to try and take our monthly family portraits somewhere that will have a memory attached, a holiday, day out, birthday or special event. It seems to make them that bit more special when i look back.

These ones were taken on holiday in France, at the poxy ruins no less. A holiday that wasn’t actually a ‘holiday’ as such, but it’s one that we will be much more likely to laugh about, than forget.

We’ve had an alright month I think although I can’t really remember much of what we have done, except that it culminated in a nasty sickness bug. I had thought that looking after two sick children was pretty close to hell on earth until i experienced the flip side and was the one who was ill. Dealing with the tears, trauma’s and putting up with my body being used as a human climbing frame whilst trying not to puke was pretty special. I have never been so glad to be back to normal self the last couple of days. Oh and to be back on the gin of course, a bank holiday with no gin was just plain wrong.

A Family Portrait For April

I think our portrait for this month is particularly fitting, what says spring better than baby lambs? Mmmmmm tasty.

Before arriving at the farm to see the lambing we had been quite sure we would be spending the majority of our time staring at machinery rather than animals as F has never really shown much interest in living things (including his own dear brother).

For example, at Longleat Safari Park i brought him face to face with an incredibly intriguing anteater, certain it would spark a flicker of interest but he just wriggled free of my grasp and bolted towards the train. Things were no better at Marwell Zoo where he spent most of the time peering through the bars at the various breeds of digger helping construct a new enclosure.

He often looks at animals, including our own cat, blankly or with an element of contempt or disdain – as if to question ‘whats the point in that, it doesn’t even have wheels?’

A Family Portrait For March

So many beautiful days this month and so many wonderful photo opportunities, all blighted by naps, horrible moods or sheer absent mindedness.

We ended up taking our family portrait for March on the last possible day, in the only time slot available – breakfast. So we are not dressed and i am looking rather rough au natural. But never mind, i quite like it, it’s nice for the photos to tell a little story i think.

A Family Portrait For February

We’ll be pinching and punching each other tomorrow so today is the day to share our family portrait for February. This was taken on the littlest’s birthday – the day he turned the big One. We are in JB’s in Brighton, we ate big fat burgers and the birthday boy probably had far too many salty chips than he should (although i think the salt intake increases at 1 so it was a pretty timely indulgence).

To be completely honest I’m struggling to write this post right now on Thursday evening. We had a breakdown today (the car not me) and i spent an hour stuck inside it with an increasingly mental baby. All i can say is hurrah for the bag of rice cakes i tossed in the change bag before we left for the school run. It was fine, just a flat battery, but there was pre bath time wine as a reward and my head is a little fuzzy as a result.

But the real reason for my lack of cohesive thought is that ummm ONE OF MY POSTS WENT VIRAL! Sorry for the shouting and the shameless self promotion but I can’t help feeling a wee bit pleased with myself as I watch the shares go crazy around the world. I have tried to keep it quiet for fear I would sound like I am boasting, but this is my own little space and I figure that the people who visit here would not (hopefully) begrudge me that.
